Drive from Kathmandu to the Nepal-Tibet border at Gyrong/Kerung. The scenic 6-hour drive takes you through beautiful Nepalese hills with terraced farmland, traditional villages, and subtropical forests. Complete exit formalities at the Nepal side and stay overnight at the border town.

Enter Tibet after completing Chinese border formalities. Your Tibetan guide will welcome you at the border. Drive through the spectacular Himalayan foothills and gradually ascend to the Tibetan Plateau passing through dramatic gorges and mountain passes. Arrive in Shigatse, Tibet's second-largest city at 3,900 meters.

Visit Tashilhunpo Monastery in Shigatse featuring the world's largest gilded statue of Maitreya Buddha. Drive south through dramatic mountain scenery to the Gawu La Pass for views of Mount Everest. Continue to Rongbuk Monastery and Everest Base Camp for sunset over the highest peak on Earth. Overnight at EBC guesthouse.
