Night sky photography tour at Everest Base Camp and Namtso Lake. Capture the Milky Way above the world's highest peak and the sacred turquoise lake at 4,700 meters.
Arrive in Lhasa by air. Your guide will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel. Rest and acclimatize to the altitude of 3,650 meters. Your guide will brief you on the night sky photography opportunities ahead and review the weather forecast for the best stargazing conditions during your stay.
Daylight sightseeing of Lhasa's most iconic landmarks. Visit the magnificent Potala Palace, the former winter residence of the Dalai Lamas, and the sacred Jokhang Temple built in 647 AD. Walk the Barkhor kora circuit. Use the daylight hours to scout potential night photography locations around Lhasa.
Visit Drepung Monastery, once the world's largest monastery, and Sera Monastery for daylight photography of the architectural details. Return to the hotel early to rest and prepare for the night photography sessions ahead in the days to come.
Scenic drive south from Lhasa across the Karo La Pass at 5,010 meters. Stop at the stunning turquoise Yamdrok Lake for daylight photography. Visit the Kumbum Stupa in Gyantse. Arrive in Shigatse Welcome to Lhasa! After arriving at Lhasa Gonggar Airport or the railway station, your English-speaking guide will greet you and escort you to your hotel in a private vehicle. The drive into the city takes approximately one hour, passing by the dramatic Tibetan landscape and the scenic Lhasa River valley. Upon arrival at your hotel, take it easy and allow your body to adjust to the altitude. Your guide will provide an orientation briefing about the days ahead and offer helpful tips for managing high-altitude travel.
Drive to Everest Base Camp via Shigatse and the Gawu La Pass at 5,200 meters. Sunset photography at Mount Everest. After dark set up for astrophotography capturing the Milky Way above Mount Everest north face. The clear high-altitude atmosphere with minimal light pollution provides exceptional stargazing conditions for breathtaking night sky images.
Early morning sunrise shoot at Everest. Rest during the daytime hours. Second night session for more astrophotography at Everest Base Camp where the exceptionally dark sky reveals thousands of stars visible to the naked eye.
Drive from Everest Base Camp to Namtso Lake via the scenic northern route through the Tibetan steppe. Sunset shoot at the lake. Night photography session at Namtso Lake capturing the stars reflected on the turquoise waters of Heaven Lake.
Return to Lhasa via the Nyenchen Tanglha Pass. Free evening to review your photographs and prepare for departure After breakfast at your hotel, your guide will transfer you to the airport or train station according to your departure schedule, allowing plenty of time for check-in procedures.
