Board the legendary Qinghai-Tibet Railway at Xining Station in the afternoon. Settle into your comfortable soft sleeper compartment with four berths, personal reading light, and oxygen supply. Watch the landscape transform from green valleys to golden grasslands as you head toward the Tibetan Plateau.

Full day aboard the Qinghai-Tibet Railway crossing the Tibetan Plateau. The train reaches the Tanggula Pass at 5,072 meters, the highest railway pass in the world. Spot wild yaks, Tibetan antelopes, and wild kiang from your window as the train passes through this incredible landscape.

Arrive at Lhasa Railway Station in the afternoon. Your guide will meet you at the station with a white silk scarf and transfer you to your hotel. Rest and acclimatize to the altitude of 3,650 meters. Stay hydrated, eat light meals, and take it easy on your first day on the Tibetan Plateau. Your guide will brief you on the exciting days ahead.

Visit the magnificent Potala Palace, the iconic 13-story winter residence of the Dalai Lamas perched on Marpo Ri Red Hill. In the afternoon visit Jokhang Temple, the holiest shrine in Tibet built in 647 AD, housing the sacred Jowo Shakyamuni statue. Walk the Barkhor kora circuit.

Scenic drive south via the Karo La Pass at 5,010 meters and the turquoise Yamdrok Lake to Shigatse. Visit Tashilhunpo Monastery with its 26-meter gilded Maitreya Buddha statue. Continue to Everest Base Camp via the Gawu La Pass for sunset over Mount Everest.

Early morning sunrise over Mount Everest north face. After breakfast drive from EBC to Namtso Lake via the scenic northern route through the vast Tibetan steppe dotted with nomadic herder tents. Arrive at Namtso Lake for sunset over the turquoise waters.

Morning at Namtso Lake for a final walk along the pristine shoreline. Drive back to Lhasa crossing the Nyenchen Tanglha Pass arriving in the late afternoon.
